French Riviera

Southern France – French Riviera

Jade: We left Spain and flew to Nice, France. Nice is spelled like nice and it rhymes with rice!

Antibes – French School

Mady: Friday was our last day of French school. In French school it is so hard, we did 20 hours of French in one week. In my class, we worked on vocabulary, grammar, and writing. There were kids from all around the world going to this school – most of the kids in my class were Swiss. My friend at French school, Ece, can speak multiple languages including Dutch, Turkish, English and French.

Jade: You are assigned to different classrooms according to your age and level of French. They start off with the basic questions – you are, I am, etc. And then there are games in French – hangman, charades, even card games are in French. The rule is you can’t speak English or other languages in the classroom, you can only speak French. We have gym class, but we don’t have music. Only the high-schoolers can do dance.

Mady: Most days after school we went to the beach and swam for hours. One side of the beach was rocks and seaweed, on the other side it was white sand warm waters and shallow (up to my stomach).

Jade: I meet a girl who comes from ……… Rio De Janero, Brazil!!!!!!!! Her name is Catrina. In my class there was also a girl from Switzerland and a boy from Sweden. My Brazilian friend speaks Portuguese, French, and English. The other girl spoke French, a little bit of English, and Swiss. The boy spoke English and Swedish. My teacher’s name was Fanny.

I made great friends with Catrina, I got her phone number and her Instagram and on the last day she invited me over to her place and I invited her over to my place and then we all went to the beach (with my family and her mom and sister). When I said good bye I missed her but I was excited for Italy and Greece.

Mady: Today we are travelling by train to Italy. On the the trains we listen to audio books, colour, and look out the window. I love taking the train.
